Social services are also called welfare services, and they are public or sometimes private services meant to help disadvantaged, distressed, and vulnerable people or groups. Often, formal education is not required for providing social services. Social work is a related profession that provides this help in a more planned, organized, and complete way, depending on the resources available. Social care involves direct and personal support, where a person is helped with day-to-day activities.
