Tagorihime is one of the Three Munakata goddesses, the daughters of Susanoo. The Shinsen Shōjiroku says she is the ancestor of many clans.

She married Ōkuninushi. This is interesting because it links the Munakata clan with the izumo clan. It also links Munakata Taisha and Izumo Taisha.

She is the mother of Ajisukitakahikone and shitateru-hime

Her main shrine is Okitsu-gu, part of Munakata Taisha. It is on Okinoshima, a forbidden island that only men can go to.

All her children are worshipped at Shitori Shrine alongside those of her sisters, she and her sisters are not.
