Glossary of Shinto

Take Shrine (多家神社) is a Sōja shrine in Fuchu, Aki District, Hiroshima.

The shrione says it was founded by Emperor Jimmu. In the Kojiki he stayed in Takemikazuchi [en] Palace and in the Nihon Shoki he stayed at Enomiya. He stayed for seven years during his eastern expedition [en].

According to the Engishiki it is a Myojin Taisha.

Because it is a Sōja shrine, it honors all the kami (gods) of the shrines in Aki Province. It is built on the site of Hiroshima Castle [en].

This shrine is one of the "Three Great Shrines of Aki Province", together with Itsukushima Shrine and Hayatani Shrine.

Over time, the shrine became less important. Its original place was forgotten during the Edo period.

The treasure house of the shrine is one of the few old buildings left from Hiroshima Castle [en]. It survived a fire in 1915, and the Atomic bombing of Hiroshima in 1945.
