Toonzai was a group of cartoons broadcast on Saturday morning on The CW. Toonzai replaced The CW4Kids (started in May, 2008) in 2010. Toonzai first broadcasted on August 14, 2010. It ceased airing on August 18, 2012.
The block was programmed by 4Kids Entertainment (who also programmed the 4Kids TV on Fox until December 2008). A number of shows were included, such as Yu-Gi-Oh!, Sonic X, Dragon Ball Z Kai, and a redone version of Dragon Ball Z created by Funimation Entertainment (which was shared with Nicktoons). Most of the included cartoons had a Japanese style of animation.
In most markets, most affiliate television stations used the television network's Saturday morning schedule. Some, such as Atlanta, Georgia's WUPA-TV broadcast the shows on Sundays (usually because the stations were at one time UPN affiliates and UPN did not have children's television programming on Saturday mornings). Former WB affiliate WCCT-TV in Hartford, Connecticut aired the first three hours of the block on Saturday mornings and the last two hours on Sunday mornings.
KMYS, a channel in San Antonio, Texas (and a CW affiliate channel), aired the block during early Sunday morning and early Monday morning (split into a two-hour and three-hour block). The shows aired before 5am.
All times Pacific. Actual times may vary, depending on affiliate.
