Vladimir Yevgenyevich Fortov (Russian: Владимир Евгеньевич Фортов; 23 January 1946 – 29 November 2020) was a Russian physicist. He was director of the Joint Institute for High Temperatures from 1992 to 2013. He was president of the Russian Academy of Sciences from 2013 to 2017. In 1991, he became a member of the academy.

He was known for his research in thermal physics, shock waves and plasma physics.

He was elected a member of the Academia Europaea in 1998.

Fortov died on 29 November 2020 in Moscow from COVID-19 at the age of 74.
