Weekend at Bernie's

Weekend at Bernie's is a 1989 American black comedy movie directed by Ted Kotcheff, written by Robert Klane, and distributed by 20th Century Fox. Weekend at Bernie's stars Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman, with Terry Kiser as Bernie (the titular deceased boss).

In the film, Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman play two white collar men, Larry and Richard, attempting to make it seem like their boss, Bernie, who died while at the seashore with them, is still alive and having a jolly time with them, while mob hitmen continue to try to kill the already dead Bernie. Plenty of physical comedic scenes ensue involving carrying the body around, propping it up, dressing it in different outfits, and so on.

Bernie's house was a set built at the south end of Fort Fisher Natural Recreation Area. It was demolished at the end of the movie.

A sequel to the film, Weekend at Bernie's II was released in 1993. Written and directed by Robert Klane, the sequel also starred McCarthy and Silverman (returning as Larry and Richard), and Kiser (returning as Bernie's oddly not decomposed, dug-up corpse).
