Dispholidus typus (veya boomslang) Sahraaltı Afrika'nın yerlisi olan göreli küçük zehirli bir kırbaç yılanıdır. Geçmişte birkaç tür ve alt tür tanımlanmış olsa da boomslang cinsindeki tek türdür. Yılanın adı Afrikaanca ve Felemenkçede "ağaç yılanı" anlamına gelir ("boom" ağaç ve "slang" yılan anlamındadır). Yılanın, Dispholidini oymağını oluşturan Thelotornis, Thrasops, Rhamnophis ve Xyelodontophis cinslerinin üyeleri ile yakından ilişkili olduğu düşünülmektedir.

Üreme

Boomslanglar oviparözdür. Yumurtaların kuluçka süresi göreli olarak uzundur (ortalama 3 ay). Yumurtadan yeni çıkmış yavrular grimsi renkli ve mavi beneklidir. Birkaç yıl içinde de yetişkinlikteki renklerine kavuşurlar.
