Collie Motorplex, is a 2.55 km (1.58 mi) motorsport circuit located in Collie, approximately 168 km (104 mi) south of Perth in Western Australia. It was built by in the foot print of an old coal mine.
In 2017, it was decided that the circuit would be extended and would be constructed by continuing on at turn 3 to a new, 1.30 km section of track before linking back up to a kink after the old turn 4 forming a new 2.55 km (1.58 mi) circuit. This extension has made Collie the longest racetrack in Western Australia, beating out Wanneroo Raceway by 100 m.
The circuit has gone through numerous layout changes from as small as re aligning the main straight, to a 950 m track extension. The first of these changes was in 2003 with the realignment of the back straight, with a new chicane at the kink before the final corner. The track also got a new burnout pad in the pit lane.
In 2006, the main straight was realigned to remove a kink in the middle of it so that the pit entry would be at the final hairpin, and not a side road on the main straight. this change also included a new track entry with a new tunnel under the final corner; before this, you would have to cross the track surface to enter and exit the pits.
In 2008, the entire track and pit area was resurfaced for the first time since its opening in 1999.
In 2010, a new pit entry was constructed with it now bypassing the final corner making it safer for competitors trying to overtake into the final corner. The track also received a new dirt section linking turn 2 to turn 5 passing through the paddock area.
In early 2011, the track constructed a new bus stop style chicane on the front straight. The chicane was used mainly for driver training events on motorbikes and automobiles.
In 2019, the club had a whole arrange of upgrades which included a new pedestrian foot bridge on the main straight, new and updated pit facilities, new car park areas for spectators, proper gravel traps for motorbikes in particular; and most importantly, a 950 m extension in the south end of the circuit using existing roads as a rough guide for the new track layout.
