IEEE International Conference on Image Processing
The IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP) is a flagship conference of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS). ICIP is considered the premier forum for the presentation of technological advances and research results in the fields of theoretical, experimental, and applied image and video processing.
In 1994, Alan Bovik and David Munson, with the support of the Image and Multidimensional Signal Processing Technical Committee, worked to establish a second major international conference series for SPS, in turn introducing ICIP. The desire to create another major annual conference for SPS was in response to the rapidly growing field of image processing and the goal to help focus the research.
