The eighth-generation iPad Mini (stylized and marketed as iPad mini (A20 Pro) and colloquially referred to as iPad Mini 8) is a tablet computer in the iPad Mini line, developed and marketed by Apple Inc. It was announced on October 26, 2026 and it will be released on November 6, 2026. Its predecessor, the seventh-generation iPad Mini, was discontinued on the same day. It is available in two colors: Midnight and Starlight.

The eighth-generation iPad mini features an upgraded processor, an OLED display, water resistance, and a vibration-based speaker system.

History

Development

Reports about the next-generation iPad Mini started emerging around the time of the WWDC 2024 event. There were speculations that the next iPad Mini was to come with an Apple A19 Pro or an A20 Pro chip. Other reports included the inclusion of an OLED display, a vibration-based speaker system, and water resistance.

Early reports of production began to surface in June 2026, with the manufacturing of the OLED displays for the iPad Mini.

In July 2026, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported that Apple would launch the OLED iPad Mini in October 2026, and that the iPad Mini was to come with a 60Hz display. In August 2026, Mark Gurman stated that the OLED iPad Mini would go on sale by late-October 2026.

In September 2026, details for the upcoming tablet, through Apple's code, were leaked, suggesting upgrades including an A20 Pro chip, a landscape camera, and a vibration-based speaker system. Aaron Perris reported on alleged product images and the front of the iPad Mini‌.

In October 2026, the rumored OLED iPad Mini's model identifier were accidentally revealed weeks early by Apple, revealing the case's model number "A3632" via regulatory documents, which appears to be a Smart Folio for the iPad mini.

Launch

In October 2026, Bloomberg reported that Apple would launch the OLED iPad mini on October 27, alongside the OLED MacBook Pro, with reports suggests a price increase at around $799 than the previous generation, along with a two-day event to showcase new Apple products in Los Angeles. Mark Gurman reported that Apple was inviting media to the October 28 launch experience, and that the OLED iPad Mini would go on sale by November 6, 2026. The OLED iPad Mini was announcened on October 26, 2026 via a press release.
