Jason Seagraves is an American film and television producer and former studio executive. He was vice president of production and development at Cross Creek Pictures, where he was a co-producer on American Made (2017) and on the Academy Award-winning Hacksaw Ridge (2016), and later senior vice president of development at Cavalry Media. He is an executive producer of the Prime Video series Motorheads (2025).

Early life and education

Seagraves is from Georgetown, Texas. He attended Baylor University, entering as a theater major before switching to the university's film department, and graduated in 2007. As a student he performed with and later managed the Guerrilla Comedy Troupe, Baylor's improvisational comedy group, an experience he has credited with pointing him toward producing. During his senior year he took part in Baylor's satellite programs, interning in Los Angeles and then in New York, where he interned for producer Scott Rudin and was hired to work for him after graduating. He has said that the Los Angeles internship gave him his foundation and connections in the industry: “Going into the Baylor in LA program, I had an idea about what elements go in to making a movie, but it wasn’t until I got there that the light bulb went off.”

Career

Cross Creek Pictures

After working for Rudin, Seagraves joined Cross Creek Pictures as assistant to the company's president, Brian Oliver. He was promoted to creative executive within a year and to vice president of production and development roughly a year and a half later. The first projects he led at the company were American Made and Hacksaw Ridge. He was Cross Creek's lead executive on Black Mass (2015) and Roman J. Israel, Esq. (2017), structured financing and sales strategies for independently funded films, and procured several million dollars in financing for development projects. In 2016 he was announced as a producer, with Oliver and Maurice Fadida, of Cross Creek's historical epic The Great Game, about the Nobel family and the Baku oil rush, to be directed by Gary Shore; the film was never completed. He produced the Gerard Butler thriller Keepers, later released as The Vanishing (2018). He was an executive producer of the David Ayer film The Tax Collector (2020), a Cross Creek production filmed shortly before he left the company.

Cavalry Media

In September 2018, Seagraves joined Cavalry Media, the finance and production company founded by Dana Brunetti and Keegan Rosenberger, as a vice president of development reporting to Brunetti. Brunetti said of the hire: “Jason is a talented production executive as well as an expert dealmaker. His extensive background in every aspect of film and television production, from identifying and developing properties to financing and negotiating rights and talent deals, makes him eminently qualified to develop the kind of commercially appealing projects Cavalry Media was formed to make.” He rose to senior vice president of development, and also produced for the company's Cavalry Audio podcast arm, including the scripted series Shell, the true crime series The Rosenberg Case (2022), and X Marks the Spot: The Legend of Forrest Fenn (2022), which he produced with Branden Morgan. In February 2023, with Cavalry in financial distress, Seagraves left the company as its second departing executive after Brunetti, remaining involved in producing some of the company's projects, among them Motorheads.

Motorheads and later work

Seagraves was a producer on the thriller Among the Beasts, released by Gravitas Ventures in February 2023. In November 2023, Prime Video ordered Motorheads, a coming-of-age drama from writer and showrunner John A. Norris, to series, with Seagraves as executive producer alongside Norris, Jake Fuller of Jax Media, Brunetti, and Rosenberger. The series premiered on May 20, 2025, and was canceled after one season that August, with the producers seeking a new home for it with Amazon's permission. Seagraves said of the cancellation: “We set out to make a show with no agenda and a lot of heart, to give families something they can watch together. While Johnny and I are disappointed Motorheads won’t be continuing at Prime Video, we couldn’t be more proud of what the team created.”
