Vahini Technologies is an Indian technology company based in Hyderabad, Telangana, developing a sensor-equipped pen and software for analysing handwriting movements. Its work includes handwriting recognition and proposed applications in education and accessibility.
Vahini Technologies was founded by Mallikarjun Rao Kosuri. According to The New Indian Express, work on the pen began in May 2023, following his interest in writing technologies for visually impaired students. The newspaper also reported that the company received mentorship and support from the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub in Tirupati.
In June 2026, The New Indian Express reported that Vahini was developing a pen designed to write on ordinary paper while recording writing movements through embedded inertial measurement unit sensors. The system uses movement data to analyse features such as writing speed, stroke sequences and pen control. Its intended applications include personalised handwriting practice for children.
An October 2026 profile in CXO Magazine, based on information supplied by the company, described the pen as a working prototype at a pre-commercial stage. The profile also described Project Akshara, a planned multilingual dataset combining handwriting with records of pen movements.
