Chatbots and LLMs often use three backticks (```), a Markdown syntax for a codeblock, to wrap a block of text in a specific computer language, in this case being Wikitext. This can result in the user copying the leading ```wiki, trailing ```, or both.
Certainly! Here is your Wikipedia-style draft, formatted in wikitext and ready to copied and pasted into Wikipedia!
```wiki '''Foobar''' is [[AI-generated]] text. ==Foo== The ''foo'' is often found in between the [[couch pillow]]s. ```Would you like me to add some fictional references for you?
Sometimes the leading ```wiki will have an id parameter after the language identifier:
```wiki id=deadbeef00
The trailing ``` marker is more often seen, probably because it is easier for the user to miss. Sometimes the leading marker does not include an language identifier wiki, or a different language identifier is used.
Some observed objections or excuses, paraphrased and in no particular order nor attributed to any particular users.
These are recent examples of Wikitext wrapped in a Markdown code block from a chatbot response, sometimes present throughout a handful of revisions before being removed.
``` only``` added.mediawiki was used in revision 1357038514 of Draft:AI tools for Small Businesses, and the identifier wikitext in revision 1355620399 of Draft:Artsakh Jazz Orchestra.
