This page describes how to add a new instrument to Category:Wikipedians by musical instrument. To complete the task with zero red links, you must create 5 categories and 5 templates. The following example deals with the organ.
Create Category:Wikipedian ist, replacing ist with the name that is used to refer to people who play the specific instrument. See Category:Wikipedians by musical instrument for previous naming conventions. Insert code in the following format, changing the two parameter values:

instrument-code is the abbreviation that appears on the left side of the userbox. Please try to avoid using instrument codes which should be used for a language under the ISO 639 designation system. The language system should take precedence over spin-off systems where code clashes are likely to occur.instrument-name is the name of the instrument, linked to the article about the instrument.The following will appear at the top of the category: a box and an alphabetical table of contents:

In the previous step, you created Category:Wikipedian ist. Now, create the following 4 subcategories:

ist is in singular form here.level is the skill level, one of 1, 2, 3, or 4. All 4 subcategories have the exact same code except for their level.After creation, this box will appear in the subcategory:
