Zageno (stylized as ZAGENO) is an American-German biotechnology company headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States, with additional offices in San Francisco, California, Berlin, Germany, and Bangalore, India. Zageno operates a digital marketplace and procurement platform for life science research products and laboratory supplies, which connects scientists and procurement teams.
The company's platform brings together suppliers of lab reagents, consumables, and equipment so research institutions and biotech companies can compare options and manage life science purchasing through a single marketplace.
Zageno was founded by chief executive Florian Wegener and David Pumberger in the United States in December 2014 and a German subsidiary, ZAGENO GmbH, was established six months later. The company has raised $121 million across five rounds of financing from investors including General Catalyst, Kaiser Permanente, California Public Employees' Retirement System, Grazia Equity, and Capnamic Ventures.
Prior to founding Zageno, CEO Florian Wegener, a physician by training, served as vice president and global head of eCommerce at Qiagen, and previously worked as a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group.
