William Raymond Philipson (Newcastle upon Tyne, 6 dicembre 1911 – Greytown, New Zealand, 28 marzo 1997) è stato un botanico, esploratore, ornitologo e scrittore neozelandese.

Biografia

Philipson si sposò con la sua collega Melva Noeline Philipson (1925-).

Fu membro corrispondente della Botanical Society of America.

Si interessò in particolare di Pteridophyta e Spermatophyta provenienti da Colombia, Giamaica, Nuova Zelanda e Papua Nuova Guinea. Nel corso della sua carriera, denominò per primo 199 taxa.
