Team Seas（表記: #TEAMSEAS）は、YouTuberのミスタービーストとマーク・ローバーによってTeam Treesの後継企画として開始された国際的な共同寄付キャンペーンである。このキャンペーンは3379万米ドル以上を集めることに成功した。寄付金は全額オーシャン・コンサーバンシーとジ・オーシャン・クリーンアップに分配され、両団体が分け合った。このキャンペーンは、1ドルの寄付ごとに海から1ポンドの海洋ごみを除去し、合計で3000万ポンドの海洋ごみを除去することを目標とした。

背景

先行する寄付キャンペーンであるTeam Treesは、2019年10月25日にミスタービーストとマーク・ローバーによって開始され、2000万ドルの寄付目標を掲げ、これを達成した。Team Seasの開始時点でも、Team Treesのウェブサイトでの寄付は継続可能であり、植樹の進捗が随時更新されている。2024年8月11日 (2024-08-11)現在、34,080,191ドルが集まっている。

全世界では、1年間で約100億ポンド（48億キログラム）のプラスチックごみが海洋に流入している。

広がり

Team Seasは、2021年末までに3000万ドルを集めることで、海から30,000,000ポンド (14,000,000 kg)の海洋ごみを除去することを目標とし、1ドルの寄付ごとに1ポンドのごみを取り除くことを掲げていた。このプロジェクトは2021年10月29日（金）午後1時（太平洋時間）に、インターネット上のさまざまなソーシャルメディアプラットフォームを通じて一斉に公開された。YouTube上では、145か国の数千人のクリエイターが総計10億人のフォロワーとともにキャンペーン動画を制作した。

2021年11月1日、ShopifyのCEOであるトビアス・リュトケは120万1ドルを寄付し、Team Treesに対して寄付した100万1ドルを上回った。

状況

2023年5月10日、ドナルドソン、ローバー、そしてTeam Seasの公式のTwitterアカウントは共同で報告を行い、キャンペーンが半分まで進捗し、63か国で11万2000人のボランティアが1510万ポンドのごみを回収したと発表した。

2024年7月17日には、YouTubeに投稿された発表動画を通じて、ドナルドソンとローバーの両者がプロジェクトの完了を告知し、これまでにプロモーションに協力した数多くのクリエイターへ感謝を表した。
