Old IAFD film IDs (d:Property:P5098) are used in this template: Template:IAFD movie. IAFD has recently started using UUIDs for films. The old links still work. However, the old IDs are no longer visible on the website. As of today, the UUID can be retrieved from Wikidata: d:Property:P12654. All Wikidata items with an old film ID now also have a new film UUID. It would be advisable to adapt your template.

Hello! I just wanted to point out that there's a recent Mainichi article that might provide some extra information for the page on Koshien Stadium. Apparently, a Kansas-based photographer donated some photos of the stadium, likely taken at the time of the U.S. occupation after World War II, to a local archive in Kobe. Obviously, I can't add this information myself, because of my language barrier, but I thought you might still find it useful. Who knows, maybe those photos could even be available under a Public Domain license in a few years! Cheers!

Hi everyone. The English "Korean Chinese in Japan" page (previously "Chaoxianzu in Japan") and the Japanese 「在日朝鮮族」page were made around the same time (2023/10) by 利用者:Strategicasian, who is now globally blocked for abusing multiple accounts to promote a disputed view around Chaoxianzu / Korean Chinese (en:Sockpuppet_investigations/Strategicasian/Archive). If you look at old revisions of the English page and the Google Translated version of the Japanese page, they are very similar. Furthermore, it was later found earlier this year, 2024/02/14 by @Dekimasu to have both original research and misinformation that was either unsourced and not supported by the source (WP:NOR). While I can't fix the problem myself as a non-Japanese speaker, it would be helpful if a bilingual editor could look over Dekimasu's 5 significant edits (-) that day on "Korean Chinese in Japan" and look over the「在日朝鮮族」page to remove the possible misinformation and original research. While not as severe, there are also significant edits on「朝鮮族」 and 「在韓中国朝鮮族」by 利用者:Strategicasian and their puppet 利用者:Auroradio. Thank you!

The English versions of Chaos Flare and Gear Antique were both deleted by AFD in 2018. I was hoping to see if someone knew of any reliable sources in Japanese to help restore them? They may have been reviewed in offline sources that would not easily be found online. Hi, all. On the Godiego article (ゴダイゴ), I discovered that Takami Asano (the band's guitarist who died in 2020) was moved from past members to current members in the infobox and the article's members section back in September 2023. I've just moved his name back to the past members section.
That said, I have a general question: should Asano's name should be kept in the past members section or moved back?

Hello. I wrote an article about a Japanese manga (related to the famous The Rose of Versailles) that does not have a Japanese Wikipedia article: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q2403249 (my article is on English and Polish wikis, and it is a Good Article; the other wikis have much worse entries). I'd like to take it to the top (Featured) level, but for that I need to know if there are any Japanese-language sources about this (reviews, academic works). Is there anyone who would be interested in working on this with me? (Note: the manga is famous in Poland, not English-speaking word; I am Polish and I found all the Polish sources; there is next to nothing about it in English; it is possible that there is little in Japanese too due to its focus on Polish history - but I'd love to learn otherwise).

This would be interesting information to add to the article, but we can only do so if there is a secondary source that discusses it. I was wondering if someone could search for information on this project in Japanese for me, and see if any secondary sources exist. 自信はありません, so it would be a great help if someone could check for me. Hello
I am a filemover on Wikimedia Commons an my work on the japanese language version of Wikipedia is mostly limited to replacing image filenames that have been renamed on Commons. The changes normaly made with a script that uses my Username. Unfortunately it doesn't work for me because of the Captcha. So I replace filesnames without this script manually. I also replace old png files with svg manually. Is it somehow possible to remove the captcha input from me, or do I just need more edits to make it go away? Hello. I am working on article of Margaret Sanger in English Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Sanger There is a book named "A Fight for Women's Happiness", written by Japanese politician Shizue Katō, that says that Sanger was the first foreigner (or the first woman foreigner) to speak to the Japanese Diet. Katō says that the speech was given on 15 April 1954, to the Public Welfare Committee of the Diet. I have some good sources for the speech, including the official minutes of the Diet. But I cannot find a good source that says she was the first foreigner to speak before the Diet (or a committee of the Diet). I'm not sure if that is true or not. Can someone help me? Is there a source that says that Margaret Sanger, in April 1954, was the first foreigner to give a speech to the Japanese Diet? Maybe a Japanese newspaper from April 1954? If you have a source, I can use it for that fact in the English Wikipedia. I do not speak or read Japanese. Thank-you.

On the Kappei Yamaguchi article, his character for the Sakura Wars OVA is listed as "俵の千松" (Senmatsu the Bale). However, in the Japanese ending credits of said OVA (which can be seen on the DVD release), the character is actually listed as "猿の千松" (Senmatsu the Monkey), so it's a misreading. I removed 氏子調 from the category 郷社 but undid it because it does not appear to be a blatant error like I thought. Should this be included in it though? It is a law that is linked to the actual shrine ranking, but if I understand it correctly, a shrine of a higher rank can be a "郷社" in the context of the law.--イマニュエラ(会話) 2025年10月18日 (土) 03:37 (UTC)

I am planning to create an article about *Matthias Manasi*.
I checked and it seems that there is currently no page and no deletion record.
Before creating the new article, I just wanted to confirm that this is fine.

Hi everyone. So due to my inability to actually read Japanese I felt the need to contact the users on Japanese Wikipedia regarding a dispute that has been ongoing on English Wikipedia. The article in concern is Order of precedence in Japan (Imperial family), for which we do not have an equivalent page here. The question is whether the Emperor of Japan should be included in such a list or not. A user on the talk page argued that precedence is set based on "regulations before WWII", and as such the Emperor is excluded. This makes zero sense to me as, for example, in the Orders of precedence in the United Kingdom the King or the sovereign always comes first and I presume that is the case in Japan as well; meaning that the Emperor takes the primary spot during state occasions, walks ahead of others, etc. I'd be glad if users who have knowledge of this topic and can obviously read Japanese texts help settle this debate. Many thanks.

Hello,
in the past weeks and months, I happened to get involved on Commons in matters related to copyrights of photos taken in Japan, mostly involving deletion requests of vehicles sporting a pop art livery, e.g. with Pokémon (at the time of writing, most requests listed in c:Category:Pokémon related deletion requests/pending were actually written by me). There's a resource, c:COM:Japan, that has a section about c:COM:De minimis. But it's quite short and feels not detailed enough at times.
Are there any more details known to locals that would help me and other in better understanding and judging the limitations and implications of the law related to c:Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Japan#De minimis? Are there any pertinent cases taken to court that could flesh out the Commons description? I hope that this message may advertise the subject to knowledgeable people beyond those involved in quality assurance on Commons already.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Since works that did not air in Japan, like the 2004 TV series Winx Club have Japanese Wikipedia articles, would someone who speaks Japanese create a page for Arthur and Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman (which all did not air in Japan or have Japanese dubs). Additional pages I want for Japanese Wikipedia that don't exist here are Controversial Reddit communities, PBS Kids Go! (and other PBS/PBS Kids-related articles), Tubi, Dish Nation, and chatbot psychosis. Additionally, If it's fine to say, can I say because I want Japanese speakers to know about these things from the English Wikipedia? And I want others to create pages for them? If someone who can speak English is here, is it okay with the Japanese Wikipedia team? Thanks, by Unopened VHS tape(会話) 2026年7月14日 (火) 21:08 (UTC)

I recently saw a discussion in the archives where the topic of a "Simple Japanese Wikipedia" for Japanese learners was brought up back in 2005-2008 (link to the discussion in question). The discussion in question was based on a need for a hiragana-only version of the Japanese Wikipedia at the time on the presumption that kanji is too difficult to understand for beginner learners. This project was turned down as a result of there not really being a need for it. A comment in the discussion also pointed to already existing Japanese search engines for younger audiences like Goo (キッズgoo). However, this service was shut down in 2017, and Goo as a whole shut down in 2025. As such, there may be a lack of free online encyclopedic material for beginner Japanese learners/younger native speakers (feel free to correct my assumption in the replies).
I bring this much older discussion up because I want to gauge the interest of a "Simple Japanese Wikipedia" today, since now Japanese is a much more popular language as a second language, and there are systems that exist for simpifying information in Japanese (such as NHK's system for their Easy News site). Furthermore, I was not around at the time of Simple English Wikipedia's inception or early days, but I do like how the wiki is structured today, and maybe a combination of these systems can be implemented in some form. (I do recognize that a separate Wikipedia for Simple version of languages has been heavily discouraged since 2018, but if there is some other way this can be implemented I'd be happy to assist in it's creation.) I would personally like the opinion of both native Japanese editors as well as non-Japanese editors to have a wide variety of perspectives as well. Thank you for reading.--Fukukitaru(会話) 2026年8月8日 (土) 07:14 (UTC)
Hi JAWiki!
I started articles on some 1980s feminist manga by やまだ紫. They were published in English in the 2020s by a company in Montreal, and I used book reviews to write articles in English. I wonder if editors on JAwiki are interested in making Japanese articles on these works.
I want to make an English article on Sassy Cats (which will be released in English) but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
I don't know if there is a women and/or feminism task force on JAwiki, but if there is one, it may be interested in these works.--WhisperToMe(会話) 2026年8月23日 (日) 13:36 (UTC)
