《Anthology 4》는 영국의 록 밴드 비틀즈의 기존 발표곡과 미공개 자료를 함께 수록한 컴필레이션 음반으로, 2025년 11월 21일, 애플 레코드를 통해 발매되었다. 비틀즈의 멀티미디어 회고 시리즈인 《비틀즈 앤솔로지》의 일부로 제작되었으며, 시리즈 30주년 기념 리마스터 재발매를 확장하는 형태로 기획되었다. 《Anthology 1》 (1995년), 《Anthology 2》 (1996년), 《Anthology 3》 (1996년) 등 기존 세 권과 마찬가지로, 이 음반에는 1963년부터 1969년 사이 비틀즈의 녹음 세션에서 나온 아웃테이크들이 수록되어 있다.

특히 《Anthology 4》에는 〈Free as a Bird〉 (1995년)와 〈Real Love〉 (1996년)의 새로운 리믹스 버전이 수록되었다. 이들 곡에는 음성 복원용 기계 학습 기술이 활용되어 존 레논의 데모 녹음에서 보컬을 분리해냈으며, 이는 음반에도 수록된 〈Now and Then〉 (2023년)에 사용된 기술과 동일한 방식이다.

실물 음반은 당초 네 개의 《Anthology》 시리즈 전 권을 포함한 박스 세트 《Anthology Collection》의 독점 구성품으로 출시될 예정이었으나, 팬들의 반발 이후 독립된 2CD 및 3LP 형태로도 발매되었다.

배경

2025년 8월 19일, 비틀즈의 공식 웹사이트와 소셜 미디어 계정은 이 음반을 암시하는 티저를 공개하였다. 티저에는 숫자 1부터 4까지가 등장했으며, 공식 웹사이트에서는 숫자가 순차적으로 바뀌어 나타났고, 인스타그램 게시물에서는 슬라이드 형식으로 이전 《Anthology》 음반들의 표지가 각 숫자를 채우는 방식으로 공개되었다.

8월 21일에는 음반과 박스 세트가 공식 발표되었다. 음반은 리마스터 및 확장판으로 제작된 다큐멘터리 시리즈 《비틀즈 앤솔로지》의 3부작이 디즈니+에서 최초 공개된 11월 26일에 맞추어 발매되었다.

내용

이 음반에는 이전에 공개되지 않았던 13곡과 기존에 발표된 23곡이 함께 수록되었다. 또한 〈Free as a Bird〉와 〈Real Love〉의 새로운 믹스 버전도 포함되어 있다. 이들 곡에는 존 레논의 보컬을 추출하기 위해 기계 학습 기반 음성 복원 기술이 활용되었으며, 이는 같은 음반에 수록된 〈Now and Then〉에 사용된 것과 동일한 기술이다. 두 곡의 리믹스 작업은 제프 린이 담당하였다.
