《This Is Not a Safe Place》는 영국의 록 밴드 라이드의 여섯 번째 스튜디오 음반이다. 이 음반은 2019년 4월 23일, 첫 번째 싱글 〈Future Love〉의 발매와 함께 발매일이 발표되었으며, 2019년 8월 16일 발매되었다. 이 음반은 영국의 DJ 에롤 알칸이 프로듀싱한 밴드의 두 번째 음반이다.

배경

앤디 벨은 2018년 전시회에서 미국의 예술가 장미셸 바스키아의 작품을 접한 뒤 그의 작품과 사상에서 영감을 받았다. 바스키아가 작품에 사용했던 상징 가운데 하나는 세 개의 사선인 '///'이었다. 이는 미국의 호보들이 안전하지 않은 장소를 나타내기 위해 사용했던 역사적인 낙서 표시에 기반한 것이었다. 이러한 상징은 음반의 제목과 커버 아트에 영향을 주었다. 바스키아는 〈Repetition〉의 가사에서도 언급된다.

벨은 이 음반이 소닉 유스와 더 폴을 비롯해 전반적인 포스트펑크, 수지 앤 더 밴시스, 퍼블릭 이미지 리미티드 등의 음악으로부터 영향을 받았다고 밝혔다.
