Before playing in the NHL, Lundell played three seasons with HIFK of the Liiga.

He was drafted 12th overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2020 NHL entry draft. On 14 June 2019, Lundell signed a one-year entry-level contract to join the Panthers.

They eventually went on to defeat the Edmonton Oilers four games to three in the Finals to win the first Stanley Cup in Panthers history. On 3 July 2024, Lundell signed a six-year, $30 million contract to stay with the Panthers.

The next season, he helped the team reach their second-straight Finals, as the Panthers again defeated the Oilers four games to two to win back-to-back Stanley Cups.
