Bandage

This man has suffered a serious insurgency wound. Bandages are also used in martial arts to prevent dislocated joints.

A bandage is strip of cloth or other material that is used to stop and absorb blood from wounds.

Some bandages come in the form of a Band-Aid, where a small piece of cotton-like material is in the middle of two adhesives to stick to the user in a strip. Other types use a long cloth to absorb larger amounts of fluids known as gauze. Once the user is fully healed, they can remove the bandage to find a scar where the cut had been.

It's widely discouraged that one should not use a used bandage that another has worn, as there might be bacteria on there that can infect the new user's wounds.

In common speech, the word "bandage" is often used to mean a dressing, though technically the two are different things.
