Chicken katsu is a Japanese food made of thin fried chicken pieces that are covered with katsu sauce. The same sauce is used to make tonkatsu, a food made of fried pork.
Chicken katsu was invented in the 1800s, after British sailors brought Indian curry to Japan. The Japanese used curry to make new types of food, including katsu sauce.
Thin pieces of chicken are covered with egg and breadcrumbs and then fried in oil. The cooked chicken is eaten with katsu sauce. Katsu sauce is made out of Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, tomatoes and spices.
