The Constitution of Ukraine (Ukrainian: Конституція України) was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on 28 June 1996 with 315 votes out of 450. All laws in Ukraine must follow the constitution. Only parliament can change the constitution, and only the Constitutional Court of Ukraine can interpret it or decide if laws follow it. Constitution Day is celebrated as a public holiday every year on 28 June.
