Edna is a city in Labette County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, 388 people lived there.

History

The first store in Edna was opened in 1876. The first post office in Edna was founded in April 1878. The town of Edna was platted in the summer of 1886 when the railroad was extended to that point.

Edna was named in 1876 for a child, Edna Gragory.

Geography

Edna is at 37°3′31″N 95°21′33″W / 37.05861°N 95.35917°W / 37.05861; -95.35917 (37.058485, -95.359175).

According to the United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 0.39 square miles (1.01 km2). All of it is land.

Climate

Edna has hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system says that Edna has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.

2020 census

As of the 2020 census, there were 388 people, 153 households, and 101 families living in the city. Of the households, 77.1% owned their home and 22.9% rented their home.

The median age was 41.3 years. Of the people, 82.2% were White, 5.7% were Native American, 0.5% were Black, and 11.6% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.3% of the people.

2010 census

As of the 2010 census says that there were 442 people, 183 households, and 122 families living in the city.

Education

Edna is served by USD 506 Labette County.

Edna High School was closed through school unification. The Edna High School mascot was Pirates.
