On 24 June 2019, the Blackhawks traded Forsling along with Anton Forsberg to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Calvin de Haan and Aleksi Saarela. He never played a game for the Hurricanes and was sent down to play for their AHL-affiliate Charlotte Checkers. He scored 8 goals and recorded 18 assists in 57 regular season games for the Checkers.

On 8 January 2021, the Hurricanes placed Forsling onto waivers and his contract was picked up by the Florida Panthers the next day.
