This frog lives in rainy forests on hills. Scientists do not think this frog is good at living in places that people have changed. Scientists have seen the frog 750 m (2,460 ft) above sea level.
Scientists have seen the frog in protected places: Parque Nacional Chagres, Parque Nacional Porto Bello, and Area de Silvestre Corregimiento de Narganá.
The female frog carries her eggs on her back. The eggs hatch into small froglets, not swimming tadpoles.
Scientists from the IUCN say the frogs are in very big danger of dying out. The fungal disease chytridiomycosis can kill this frog. In some places, people change the places where the frogs live by cutting down forests to get wood to use, to make farms, and to make places for cows to eat grass.
