OccupationConstitutional Monarch of the Ancient Manipur-Medieval Manipur interface period

Meidingu Loiyumba or Meidingu Loyumba was a Meitei king of the Ningthouja dynasty and the founder of the Kangleipak Kingdom who ruled from 1073 CE to 1121 CE. He is best known for his introduction of the Loiyumba Silyel which was the first written constitution of the kingdom in 1110 CE. He set a distinct duty to every family in the kingdom. During his reign, it is believed that Gods disappeared from the kingdom and the humans came out victorious.

He divided the kingdom into 6 panas or districts (circles). With the ascension of Loiyumba to the throne of the kingdom, it marked the end of the Ancient Manipur era and the start of the Medieval Manipur era. He also introduced the Lallup system which was the Meitei militia.

He succeeded his father Kainou Irengba, and was succeeded by his son Loitongba.
