Luis Alberto Suárez Díaz (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈlooees ˈswaɾes]; born 24 January 1987) is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays for Major League Soccer club Inter Miami CF and the Uruguay national team.

Suarez has scored the most goals for the Uruguay national football team.

Suarez has caused controversy with his biting incidents, such as when he bit Giorgio Chiellini during their 2014 FIFA World Cup match against Italy. Overall, he has bitten three players and was banned several times as a result.

Personal life

Suárez lived his early years at the Cerro neighbourhood in Salto, where he played youth football at Sportivo Artigas. At age seven, he moved with his family to Montevideo, where he played youth football at Urreta.

When he was young, a car ran over his foot, breaking a bone.

He is named after former Spanish footballer Luis Suárez Miramontes.
