Nury Martinez

Nury Martinez (born July 9, 1973) is an American Democratic politician. She was a member of the Los Angeles City Council from 2013 until 2022. In 2020, she became the council's president. She was the first Latina to become President of the council.

In October 2022, she resigned as city council president after making racist comments about African-Americans in Los Angeles.

Martinez was born in San Fernando Valley, California. She studied at California State University, Northridge.
