"Time to Shine" is a song performed by Swiss singer and songwriter Mélanie René. The song represented Switzerland [en] in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. The song was written by Mélanie René and was released as a digital download on 30 January 2015.

Background

The song was written and composed by Mélanie René and in an interview said, "I wrote Time To Shine at a time in my life when I realized how much I had grown, both in my personal and musical life. For the first time I felt like I knew where I was going in life, and it made me feel free. It is this feeling of freedom that I tried to portray in my song."

Eurovision Song Contest

In November 2014, René was announced as one of the eighteen competing acts in ESC 2015 – die Entscheidungsshow, the Swiss national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. The song was submitted to the online voting platform, where it received enough votes to pass through to the live expert check which took place on 7 December 2014, the song was one of six to advance to the national final which took place on 31 January 2015, which René won. At Eurovision, Switzerland performed in the second semi-final held on 21 May 2015, the song finished in 17th and last place with 4 points.
