Towns that make up the local government are Awba Ofemili, Ugbenu, Ugbene, Ebenebe, Achalla (the capital), Urum, Amansea, Amanuke, Isu Aniocha, Mgbakwu. This Local Government Area falls under the Anambra North senatorial district of Anambra State. The headquarters of this LGA is located at Achalla. At the 2006 census, this LGA had a total population of 112,192 people.
