Cesar Ruvalcaba

Cesar Ruvalcaba (born July 13, 2001) is an American soccer player who plays as a Defender for Major League Soccer club Columbus Crew.

Early Life

Ruvalcaba played high school soccer at Downey High School. During his time in school, Ruvalcaba was recognized as a San Gabriel Valley League MVP, and two time all conference selection. Ruvalcaba was recognized at the state level as an All-CIF selection, as well as named an All-American.

College Career

Cal Poly Pomona

Ruvalcaba played four seasons with the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos. He was a two-time captain and help lead the team to their ninth appearance in the NCAA Division II soccer tournament. Ruvalcaba was named a D2 All-American and CCAA Defender of the year in his senior season.

Southern Methodist

Ruvalcaba transferred to Southern Methodist University to play an additional year of College soccer. As a graduate transfer, he served as a team captain and started in fourteen matches. He scored four goals and earned seven assists in his sole season with the Broncos.

Club Career

Ruvalcaba was selected by the Columbus Crew with the 51st overall pick of the 2025 MLS SuperDraft. He signed a contract with Columbus Crew 2 on March 5, 2025. He would make one appearance in MLS Next Pro, before signing a first team contract. Ruvalcaba made his first appearance with the Columbus Crew against New York City FC on March 22, 2025.
