Marco Kapak is an Albanian nightclub boss who wishes to retire in Thailand with his girlfriend, Sunny. While having sex, he suffers a heart attack, which signals his need for retirement. However, Kapak is robbed at gunpoint. Detective Slosser arrives at the scene, only to be covering for the robber, Jeff, and forces him to get his son into college. At a bank, Jeff deposits a portion of the $75,000 he robbed from Kapak, and teams up with Carrie, a teller, to successfully rob Kapak again. After the second robbery, Kapak turns to meditation. At the nightclub, Kapak meets with Rodriguez, a fellow crime boss. Kapak is photographed by a cameraman as he leaves the building.
Meanwhile, Kapak's friend Joe, a police officer, pursues a cartel boss. Kapak enters a car and is held at gunpoint by a woman, who is afraid that Rodriguez will hunt her down. After Kapak talks the woman down, she takes him to Rodriguez's house to discuss the money situation. Kapak offers to sell the club to Rodriguez to settle the money situation, but Rodriguez orders one of his henchmen to kill him. An outside distraction allows Kapak to kill Rodriguez and his henchmen. Kapak shoots Rodriguez's wife in the head in self defence when she attempts to kill him. Kapak tells Irena to go home, and burns down the house to destroy the evidence.
Carrie and Jeff attempt to rob the nightclub again. Kapak's employee Spence takes Sunny hostage after a brief struggle over the money. The robbers accidentally shoot Spence dead in a haze, and drive away after hearing a police siren. While fighting over the money, Carrie and Jeff get into a car accident, which kills Jeff. Carrie escapes just as the car explodes.
Kapak calls Sunny, who explains that the club was robbed. The police keep a close eye on Kapak as he drives to the airport, where he decides to go to Vancouver to plan an exit strategy. At the airport, Slosser, a corrupt cop, is revealed to be the true mastermind behind the robbery. Slosser holds Kapak at gunpoint, but is saved by Joe, who has been communicating with his boss in a plot to incriminate Slosser for his crimes. A standoff ensures where Joe is wounded in the arm. In a fight, Kapak shoots Slosser in the chest, killing him.
Kapak and Sunny learn that Joe was planning to incriminate Slosser only to get to his own target, the cartel leader El Burro. The couple leave as Joe gives them back the money.
