Production and release

At Jump Festa 2024, it was announced that Wit Studio was working on new anime of One Piece for Netflix. It was subsequently announced to be directed by Masashi Koizuka, with character designs by Kyoji Asano and Takatoshi Honda and screenplays by Taku Kishimoto. The first seven-episode season, which adapts the first 50 chapters of the manga, will be released on Netflix in February 2027.

On June 24, 2026, Netflix released an official teaser showcasing the series. In August 2026, Wit Studio president George Wada clarified that the anime was not a remake of the 1999 anime adaptation, but a reboot which takes the One Piece manga as its basis.
