This article is currently featured on the Main Page as This Week's Article for Improvement. The purpose of TWAFI is to encourage readers of the Main Page to make their first edits and understand how Wikipedia works. Keeping this article completely unprotected is essential to this goal.
Obviously, we need a lot of eyes to watch out for vandalism, but an increase in vandalism is not a reason to protect TWAFI. Instead, monitor this article closely and block specific problematic accounts rather than restricting access for unregistered users or applying pending changes protection.
