Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Environment

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion and merging of articles related to Environment. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion and neither does removing an AfD from this page remove it from the main page at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:deletion sorting|Environment|sig=~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Environment. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

The result was redirect to 2026 Iowa Senate election#District 23. Star Mississippi 15:31, 30 October 2026 (UTC)

Tony Thompson (politician)

Tony Thompson (politician) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

Doesn't currently meet WP:NPOL or WP:ACADEMIC, though if he wins the election a week next Tuesday, he'd become notable. The links to his businesses cited as sources don't mention him, and the newspaper interview is a primary source. Online search only turns up run-of-the-mill coverage for him running in a US state senate election. Ansgar Slopsbane (talk) 09:40, 23 October 2026 (UTC)

  • Note: this discussion has been included in the AfD sorting lists for the following topics: Politicians, Engineering, Environment, and Iowa. Ansgar Slopsbane (talk) 09:40, 23 October 2026 (UTC)
  • Comment Potential POV and COI editing. Article was created by editor who could be the subject based on the username (411.tony) single purpose editor and portrait uploaded as "own work." Article title also refers to him in a polti-promospeak way: "Iowan" as opposed to "politician" or "American politician." AnonymousScholar49 (talk) 14:14, 23 October 2026 (UTC)
  • Delete per nom, no significant coverage. I agree he'd be notable if he wins, but before the election it's WP:TOOSOON. It is worth noting there is a former sheriff from Iowa named Tony Thompson who shows up in news search results, but he's an unrelated person. Tymewalk (talk) 04:45, 25 October 2026 (UTC)
  • Redirect to 2026 Iowa Senate election#District 23. The improper disambiguation has been fixed. The article does not pass WP:NPOL. Aneirinn (talk) 18:44, 26 October 2026 (UTC)
  • Redirect - candidates for political office are not automatically notable, although a redirect might be appropriate to the election article. That way, if he does win, next week, it's easy to re-create the article. Bearian (talk) 12:05, 28 October 2026 (UTC)
That sounds like a good idea, thanks. Ansgar Slopsbane (talk) 12:52, 28 October 2026 (UTC)
  • Pragmatic relist until after the election. If he wins, he's notable. If he doesn't, redirect.
