Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/China

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion and merging of articles related to China. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion and neither does removing an AfD from this page remove it from the main page at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:deletion sorting|China|sig=~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to China. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
Further information
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Asia.

I do not think this manhua is notable. The only source I can find for reception is a source from The Times of India, and everything else I find in Chinese, Japanese, and English are announcements or listicles. I propose merging to List of giant pandas because the two articles cover a lot of the same things to the point where the "around the world" article sort of lists where giant pandas have appeared around the world. - OpalYosutebito 『talk』 『articles I want to eat』 17:10, 27 October 2026 (UTC)

Also, please keep in mind that List of giant pandas is likely going to be renamed to List of individual giant pandas. Idk if that will complicate this AFD - OpalYosutebito 『talk』 『articles I want to eat』 17:11, 27 October 2026 (UTC)

I propose redirecting to Line 6 (Changsha Metro) because per WP:NTRAINSTATION, train stations are not inherently notable. The only sources provided either here or on the other language versions are about the line in general and not specific stations with any individual station mentioned in passing, if at all. Anything I found apart from that is WP:RUNOFTHEMILL coverage of e.g. timetables. No indication that the individual stations pass WP:GNG Giulio 00:57, 27 October 2026 (UTC)

Non notable musician, looks like she only has a few non notable albums. When I looked her up all I could find were links to here and instagram. (I did find a link saying award winning, but I don’t know if it’s the same person or not) Sirlink2222 (talk) 19:48, 15 October 2026 (UTC)

  • Keep per the significant coverage in multiple independent reliable sources. The subject passes Wikipedia:Notability (people)#Basic criteria, which says:

People are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject.

    • If the depth of coverage in any given source is not substantial, then multiple independent sources may be combined to demonstrate notability; trivial coverage of a subject by secondary sources is not usually sufficient to establish notability.

The magazine notes: "Shu Ying, Idan Altman – Felt.

From Google Translate: "Shu Ying, Idan Altman – Felt. In 2020, Chinese musician Shu Ying and producer Idan Altman met and recorded their EP *Felt* in just three days; it has now been released on streaming platforms. The six songs—drawing inspiration from indie, post-punk, acid folk, and electropunk—are compelling, defined primarily by their minimalist structure, unconventional vocal melodies, and the DIY atmosphere they exude. The opening track, "颜色" (which can be translated as "Visage"), begins with a simple computer-generated beat, over which a bass line thunders. Shu Ying’s vocals create a loose contrast to this sonic framework, delivered melodically and at times detached from the underlying rhythm. ... "简单" ("Simplicity") relies on a minimalist electronic beat reminiscent of Krautrock and post-punk. What stands out here is Shu Ying’s vocal performance: she shifts harmonies in a way that is entirely her own—at times even clashing with the notes of the beat. This kind of independence gives the track a highly experimental feel."

The magazine notes: "In October 2017, Shanghai-based musician Shu Ying released her first full-length album Girl’s Girl’s World to critical acclaim—the ten-track record quickly making noise across China’s independent music scene. Formerly a keyboardist with the post-punk outfit Undress for Success and founding member of the electronic dance band Quadruple Cherry, Shu now inhabits her own radiantly untamed melodies amidst the loud, discordant, confused noise of twenty-first century Shanghai. A multitalented singer-songwriter who sings and writes both in Chinese and English, she also works as a digital content marketer and runs the Chinese-Dutch indie music label Waving Cat Records. There’s a chameleon-like quality to her music, undoubtedly due to her diverse personal background. Of mixed Han and Kazakh descent, she spent her early years moving between Shaoxing, Urumqi, and Stockholm, and such youthful experiences proved formative for her music."

The article notes: "Shu Ying, who you may know from her work with Undress for Success or the Shu Ying Quartet, has released a five track EP of attitude-laden punk-ish rock. It's a great listen - fans of PJ Harvey and Courtney Barnett should enjoy it."

The article notes: "Shu Ying 树樱 – Girl’s Girl’s World (Shanghai/Self-Released) Shanghai singer-songwriter, Shu Ying, returns with the snappy, profoundly catchy, emotionally rich LP Girl’s Girl’s World. It’s rock and roll streamlined with a clear ear for what’s makes a chorus pop, with lyrics that are on the mark, and more importantly, a voice that stings with emotional honesty and pulpy aplomb."

The article notes: "Waving Cat Records is a new European – Chinese label, founded in 2017 by music producer Idan Altman and artist Shu Ying."

There is sufficient coverage in reliable sources to allow Shu Ying (simplified Chinese: 树樱; traditional Chinese: 樹櫻) to pass Wikipedia:Notability#General notability guideline, which requires "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject".

Relisting comment: Thoughts on Cunard's sources....

  • Though WP:THREE is said as best practice, but Cunard's source 1 and 2 clearly meets WP:SIGCOV as WP:GNG doesn't specify numbers of sources for notability criteria. I am convinced that the sources provided by Cunard are sufficient to Keep the article. Dylan Reed (Ping me) 03:19, 23 October 2026 (UTC)
  • Comment-nice to see some sources have been found. As I said I had a hard time finding them, I will see what others think as well if it should be kept or deleted.Sirlink2222 (talk) 03:23, 23 October 2026 (UTC)
@Sirlink2222 It's not about what others think. Consensus is built on demonstrating evidence why we should Keep or Delete an article. AfD don't conclude the numbers of Keep or Delete vote, but on merits of providing a logical explanation to Keep or Delete. Dylan Reed (Ping me) 06:48, 23 October 2026 (UTC)
  • Delete - As I see it the majority of the coverage available is really about the subject's albums rather than the subject themself and I am not convinced that the albums are independently notable. Can't see that any criteria of WP:MUSICBIO are met.
None of the subjects bands are notable, they haven't had any chart hits on a chart recognised by Wikipedia:Record charts, their record labels are not regarded as being major record labels (as far as I can see, I am not au fait with Chinese record labels), and they haven't had multiple pieces of coverage about them themselves. BleachPuffin (talk) 13:09, 23 October 2026 (UTC)
Keep good source finds, Cunard. Strong enough, for sure. Jishara (please ping upon response) (talk) 17:05, 23 October 2026 (UTC)
