Note that State Route 520 and the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge will be closed all weekend. There is limited parking at the north parking lots near the Arboretum Foundation Building, so taking public transit is strongly recommended.
The nearest bus stops on 24th Avenue East at McGraw Street are a 15-minute walk (0.6 miles) away; a portion of the walking route is unpaved, but there are paved alternatives that take longer. These bus stops are served by King County Metro route 48, which runs every 15 minutes from two light rail stations on the 1 Line: University of Washington and Mount Baker.
Please indicate what food or drink you plan to bring. Plan on serving at least 8. Frisbees and soccer balls. Do not bring drones or quadcopters.
Regrets
--Guylaen (talk) 17:03, 4 August 2024 (UTC) I'm confused how the system knew that I was within driving distance, and I'm joyed to see that this event is happening - but since I had to focus on my degree last month, I just don't have any gas money, so I can't make it over the pass.
TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 18:22, 4 August 2024 (UTC) – I'd love to make it to one of these events, but it doesn't work for my schedule to make the drive that weekend. Maybe next time!
Clayoquot (talk|contribs) 23:57, 5 August 2024 (UTC) Shoot, I was hoping to make it but I'm swamped with work and family stuff this week. Sending greetings from Canada. Clayoquot (talk|contribs) 23:57, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
Guylaen, your IP address is a giveaway to your geographic location. Hope the weather is great and everyone who goes has a great time; I have a family event this weekend, but will try to attend in the future. PNW Raven (talk) 11:28, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
Good to know! Thanks! Guylaen (talk) 20:15, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
Alas! I will be on an airplane on my way back from Wikimania! Too bad that parts of my wiki-social-life are impeding on other parts! Have a great time everybody and I'll try to catch you at the next one! —mako๛ 10:15, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
Kenyoni During this time I will be getting my mowhawk colored for my annual pilgrimage to Burning Man so I will be unable to attend. Maybe next time - as long as it isn't in the middle of August Kenyoni (talk) 04:47, 11 August 2024 (UTC)
Maybe comingPlease say what drink or food you may bring!
--Guylaen (talk) 01:54, 8 August 2024 (UTC) To amend my above - looks like I'll be in Portland for the launch of my friend's city council campaign on the 10th, and if I can find a place in Portland to crash, I can swing by Seattle on my way back to Ellensburg on the 11th. But I had to borrow money for gas, so I won't be bringing any food if I do come.
Rich1vanwinkle (talk) 22:51, 8 August 2024 (UTC) Would love to come. I am scheduled in Arlington for a basketball tournament and won't know how that progresses until Sunday morning. If the event lasts until 3pm, I may catch it after the "pot luck". Rich
Probably comingPlease say what drink or food you will bring!

Caseythedog345 (talk) 05:33, 6 August 2024 (UTC) I'm possibly bringing a friend, will stop at Costco and see what is available. (this is my first time ever interacting with wikipedia stuff other than reading so I'm really confused)
Jason Myers 13 (talk) 22:41, 6 August 2024 (UTC) Never been to the Arboretum before. Never been 'invited' by something digital. I could definitely bring cookies, just wondering why Wikipedia had this banner up in the first place to invite me? Ah well. Hoping to solve a mystery of sorts.
hi, I believe it had automated scripting set up and Pinged your IP address or was provided your approximate location by your Internet Service Provider or although essentially still your ISP, one could describe as more correctly either your wifi host or your Mobile Data provider, whomever it be whose connection you're on. Systemaddict (talk) 00:36, 11 August 2024 (UTC)
Alright! I never offer my editorial or writing services for free, so I was a bit worried that wikipedia was hunting me down for such things. Hope the picnic goes well, but I don't think this event is for me! Jason Myers 13 (talk) 19:33, 11 August 2024 (UTC)
Fjárhundur (talk) 05:56, 7 August 2024 (UTC) Bringing potato salad and possibly some of my pals! Looking forward to my first Wiknic
Enuui (talk) 05:12, 8 August 2024 (UTC) I'll bring a frisbee!! And some paper plates, potentially scones.
I tried to get a feel for the area with a satellite view and "street view" on the many paths, but I wasn't seeing picnic tables in that area. Can you give explicit walking directions from parking and from bus? How far a walk is it from those places? (I have some mobility issues.) 63.231.48.44 (talk) 16:25, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
But basically you can park near the Arboretum Foundation building near the north end of the Arboretum, and then walk south on the now-pedestrianized East Arboretum Trail about 200-250 yards. By bus is actually a bit tricky, because the bus doesn't get any closer than 24th Ave E, and the paths through the park aren't too conducive to walking east-west. The best bet is to bus to 24th & McGraw (#43, #48), walk east on E Lynn, cross Arboretum Drive E on the Arboretum Sewer Trestle (a.k.a. Arboretum Aqueduct), keep going east to the area of the Arboretum Foundation building, then turn right (south) along the East Arboretum Trail.
Jmabel|Talk 01:06, 9 August 2024 (UTC) + Michelle; we'll bring a few things, but not sure what yet. Do you need any plates, plastic utensils, etc.? (please ping me if responding "yes")
Awakeningsoul (talk) 07:14, 9 August 2024 (UTC) I am still determining what to bring, but I'm excited to join the first wiki event.
Captain Puget (talk) 04:03, 9 August 2024 (UTC) Will bring wrapped sandwiches from a grocery. On my bike.
Very Cool Captain! I am excited to see your Bike! Sh.Shaf (talk) 21:28, 10 August 2024 (UTC)
50.125.106.14 (talk) 21:03, 9 August 2024 (UTC) I will bring a hamburger for me. only. only me. no one else. ok?
Dleiferives (talk) 04:23, 10 August 2024 (UTC) Will probably come. Would bring Celiac friendly pasta. (:
Bringing those sugar cookies you get from the store with the icing on top
PDFDownloader100 (talk) 22:38, 10 August 2024 (UTC) I would love to come! Waffling over what to bring, but probably some kind of fun beverage with paper cups-- strawberry lemonade, maybe?
Itsgravity (talk) 06:05, 11 August 2024 (UTC) I'll be there! I'm bringing a sweet treat of some kind -- probably cookies.
Mystical9872 (talk) 21:12, 10 August 2024 (UTC) My mom asked me to help her sign up for this event as she uses this website often and has seen the invitation pop up. I am attending as well. We will be bringing a quinoa salad and veggies.
Makingbands (talk) 15:37, 11 August 2024 (UTC) I'm like 90% on going this afternoon I'll bring individual bags of Doritos, Cheetos and etc.

Hello! We recently came across your event listing for a summer picnic at the WA Park Arboretum this Sunday. We appreciate your interest in our beautiful Arboretum and your efforts to bring the community together. However, I'm sure you are unaware, but there are specific regulations in place to protect our environment and ensure the enjoyment of all visitors. Unfortunately, there are issues with your event. Specifically:
Drones: While amazing and very popular, Drones are strictly prohibited in the Washington Park Arboretum
Permits: Any organized events must be permitted through Seattle Parks and Recreation. (We have no record of a permit for your event in the current calendar.) A permit is required to reserve any area used for a gathering. Events with short turn around may have challenges getting permitted. Here is parks Permit Process document https://www.seattle.gov/parks/rentals-and-permits/outdoor-event-permits
Please know, If you proceed with the event without obtaining the necessary permits, you will be asked to leave the premises on Sunday.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us preserve the beauty and tranquility of the WA Park Arboretum.
@Uwbgfac: I have sent an application in & adjusted the language advising that drones are are prohibited under Seattle Parks rules and regulations.Peaceray (talk) 22:51, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
