Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Technical requests

Uncontroversial technical requests

  • Damn Yankees! (1967 film)  Damn Yankees! (1967 television adaptation) (move · discuss) – Not a film but a TV adaptation. 65.88.88.56 (talk) 18:54, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't believe there are any other TV adaptations of this - would Damn Yankees! (TV adaptation) work? It could even be reduced further to Damn Yankees! (TV) but in my opinion that's probably too uninformative. (WP:NCTV seems to favor "TV" over "television")ASUKITE 19:32, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Requests to revert undiscussed moves

Contested technical requests

You're probably right, but this is definitely WP:PCM, not a technical request. 162 etc. (talk) 21:37, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Just checking the references, I reiterate my 2016 statement - sources repeatedly use the form "JT McNamara", and he seems to have been known as "JT", not (for example) "John" - for example here and here. Ghmyrtle (talk) 07:56, 6 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@HHH Pedrigree although it looks like anybody could move these, a discussion may still be ideal as such moves are now at risk of being reverted. ASUKITE 13:59, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
All of the online sources, her IMDb page, and even her social media still use the former name. Per WP:NAMECHANGES , the name should remain how it is in the sources. cyberdog958Talk 17:46, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
