Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

- Damn Yankees! (1967 film) → Damn Yankees! (1967 television adaptation) (move · discuss) – Not a film but a TV adaptation. 65.88.88.56 (talk) 18:54, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- I don't believe there are any other TV adaptations of this - would Damn Yankees! (TV adaptation) work? It could even be reduced further to Damn Yankees! (TV) but in my opinion that's probably too uninformative. (WP:NCTV seems to favor "TV" over "television")ASUKITE 19:32, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- Renfe Feve → Renfe Cercanías AM (currently a redirect back to Renfe Feve) (move · discuss) – new name DovaModaal (talk) 15:50, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- Template reply: Hi, in general, we follow the common name for titles, as opposed to the official name. Per WP:NAMECHANGES,
we give extra weight to independent, reliable, English-language sources ("reliable sources" for short) written after the name change.
If you have any such sources, we may be able to proceed with the move, otherwise, you may also choose to open a move discussion (often called an "RM"). This is to ensure the move is not reverted by another editor, which can occur with undiscussed moves. Please note that valid sources will likely be needed in either case. Thank you! - Sitaare Zameen Par (film) → Sitaare Zameen Par (currently a redirect instead to List of programs broadcast by Sony Entertainment Television) (move · discuss) – Sitaare Zameen Par is currently a redirect to List of programs broadcast by Sony Entertainment Television because there was a show by that name. However, the article about the show failed to meet WP:GNG, so an editor redirected it. I believe Sitaare Zameen Par (film) should be moved to Sitaare Zameen Par, since the TV series did not meet the notability guidelines. Media Mender 📬✍🏻 09:00, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- I did a quick check and found there are two television series (special broadcast), one on Sony TV and the other one on Colors TV. Kindly see the links here 1, 2. Thanks for your consideration C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 09:37, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- The second one is a television event, not a television series. Media Mender 📬✍🏻 10:04, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

- Etisalat → e& (currently a redirect back to Etisalat) (move · discuss) – Company has changed its name Bestgamer 229 (talk) 18:31, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- It was moved the other way via RM in December, so definitely not Uncontroversial. — Amakuru (talk) 19:43, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Heinkel He 57 → Heinkel HE 57 (currently a redirect back to Heinkel He 57) (move · discuss) – Incorrect designation. The RLM assigned 8-57 to Focke-Wulf, so the page should be "Heinkel HE 57", not "Heinkel He 57", but I cannot move the page because the requested name is a redirect. Meltdown627 (talk) 00:15, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Overall, there seems to be a bit of a lack of consistency among these articles. At Category:Heinkel aircraft we see the majority are titled with He instead of HE, but the first few, up to Heinkel HE 18, use capitals. Ngrams suggest the lowercase is more common, but in any case I think a wider RM is warranted rather than just moving this one. — Amakuru (talk) 10:07, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Université catholique de Lille → Catholic University of Lille (currently a redirect back to Université catholique de Lille) (move · discuss) – It should be in English, not French, just as the Spanish Wikipedia article is "Universidad Católica de Lille" or Dutch Wikipedia article is "Katholieke Universiteit Rijsel". I cannot move it because the requested name is a redirect. M.A.Spinn (talk) 23:34, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
- FWIW, the English version of their site seems to use the French name too. https://www.univ-catholille.fr/en/. Graham (talk) 06:23, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- Moving to contested. No evidence presented that the proposed name is WP:COMMONNAME in English. — Amakuru (talk) 08:50, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

- Julian Castro → Julián Castro (move · discuss) – WP:COMMONNAME is Julián Castro, supported by the talk page consensus. Plumber (talk) 02:04, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- There is an existing disambiguation page at Julián Castro which you tried to move by a cut and paste to Julián Castro (disambiguation). I've not looked into whether this one warrants primary topic, but if there is consensus that the American politician is primary topic over the 19th century Venezuelan president, the dab page should be properly moved and not cut and pasted; although as there are currently only two, hatnotes would be sufficient. older ≠ wiser 02:19, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Contesting this as it is definitely controversial. At Talk:Julian Castro/Archive 1 there have been four different RMs on this topic, and there has never been a consensus to move. I would support a move to Julián Castro (American politician), as indeed I did at the last RM, but I would strongly oppose a move to the base name. As the leader of a county, Julián Castro (Venezuelan president) clearly has greater long-term significance even if the US politician is more sought-after. — Amakuru (talk) 08:49, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

- Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium → RFK Stadium (currently a redirect back to Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium) (move · discuss) – WP:CONCISE and WP:COMMONNAME. Construction of New Commanders Stadium was recently announced to be built on the site, with the majority (90%+) of articles and press releases, including the D.C. city government and the stadium's venue manager, using RFK Stadium. Note that I accidentally moved the talk page to see if I could move it myself beforehand. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 20:54, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
- You're probably right, but this is definitely WP:PCM, not a technical request. 162 etc. (talk) 21:37, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
- JT McNamara → J. T. McNamara (currently a redirect back to JT McNamara) (move · discuss) – initials should have full stops per MOS:INITS but the article name already exists as a redirect to the current title. Bcp67 (talk) 19:47, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
- This was proposed as a G6 in 2016, but an objection was raised by Ghmyrtle at Talk:J. T. McNamara. So while the guideline appears to support the move, this does appear to be a WP:PCM. — Amakuru (talk) 20:46, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
- Just checking the references, I reiterate my 2016 statement - sources repeatedly use the form "JT McNamara", and he seems to have been known as "JT", not (for example) "John" - for example here and here. Ghmyrtle (talk) 07:56, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- Evening Standard → London Standard (currently a redirect back to Evening Standard) (move · discuss) – Old to current name MayneAndRowan (talk) 10:22, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- Noting previous discussions such as Talk:Evening_Standard#Requested_move_18_September_2018, so this isn't uncontroversial. -Kj cheetham (talk) 10:29, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- Double or Nothing (2025) → AEW Double or Nothing (2025) (move · discuss) – Move similar to TNA Lockdown or AEW Dynasty (2025). The number don't help with disambiguation, since there are also novels and movies called Double or Nothing. Also asking for the other events. Double or Nothing (2019) to AEW Double or Nothing (2019), Double or Nothing (2020) to AEW Double or Nothing (2020) , Double or Nothing (2021) to AEW Double or Nothing (2021) ,Double or Nothing (2022) to AEW Double or Nothing (2022) ,Double or Nothing (2023) to AEW Double or Nothing (2023) and Double or Nothing (2024) to AEW Double or Nothing (2024) HHH Pedrigree (talk) 11:00, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- I think 2025 AEW Double or Nothing might be a better title, in line with the usual format for annual sporting events. — Amakuru (talk) 09:42, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- I agree, WP:NATDIS as well. I think that's sufficient - @HHH Pedrigree -
both targets are redlinks, you should be able to move this yourself(missed that this was a list, I'm sure there are some swaps needed here aand I'm back - all are redlinks, you can in fact process all of them, so we shouldn't need to) ASUKITE 14:33, 7 May 2025 (UTC)- Oppose 2025 AEW Double or Nothing; as OP mentions, the date in parentheses is the format used for similar wrestling events. 162 etc. (talk) 18:35, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

- @HHH Pedrigree although it looks like anybody could move these, a discussion may still be ideal as such moves are now at risk of being reverted. ASUKITE 13:59, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- GGICO (Dubai Metro) → Al Garhoud (Dubai Metro) (currently a redirect instead to Al Garhoud Station (Dubai Metro)) (move · discuss) – Change of the metro station name to Al Garhoud from GGICO Bestgamer 229 (talk) 18:06, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Please cite sources.
- Also note that GGICO is unambiguous. Many of the articles at Category:Dubai Metro stations appear to have unnecessary disambiguation in their current titles. 162 etc. (talk) 21:14, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- DXAM-FM → DXAM (currently a redirect back to DXAM-FM) (move · discuss) – Callsign is held by only an FM station. It is not held by either AM or TV station. See FM listing and AM listing from NTC. SBKSPP (talk) 00:55, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- Two things - firstly, DXAM has quite an extensive history and I think maybe needs a history merge with DXRR-AM. Secondly, the PDF for AM stations linked above mentions an AM station DXAM on the 1278 frequency. Overall I think the status quo may be fine. — Amakuru (talk) 09:48, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- 1996 California Proposition 218 → California Proposition 218 (currently a redirect back to 1996 California Proposition 218) (move · discuss) – No other California Proposition 218, proposed title already redirects here. 🐔 Chicdat Bawk to me! 20:14, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- Everything in Category:Amendments to the Constitution of California has a year attached to it, as indeed do most of the other entries at Category:U.S. state constitutional amendments. While in theory the year might not be necessary, it appears to be a widespread convention to include it and probably needs a wider RM to change that. — Amakuru (talk) 10:10, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Palak Jain → Palak Jain Mehta (move · discuss) – Palak jain is married and her name should be renamed as Palak Jain Mehta or Palak Mehta 2409:40C1:201D:2BCC:8000:0:0:0 (talk) 17:42, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- All of the online sources, her IMDb page, and even her social media still use the former name. Per WP:NAMECHANGES , the name should remain how it is in the sources. cyberdog958Talk 17:46, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
