If process guidelines are met, move templates to the appropriate subsection here to prepare to delete. Before deleting a template, ensure that it is not in use on any pages (other than talk pages where eliminating the link would change the meaning of a prior discussion), by checking Special:Whatlinkshere for "(transclusion)". Consider placing {{Being deleted}} on the template page.
Please list the actual template (or for batch nominations, all the individual templates) to be processed below, not merely a link to the discussion. This helps volunteers working on this page notice overlapping work. Do not remove or add new section headings as that will break XFDcloser.
Tools
There are several tools that can help when implementing TfDs. Some of these are listed below.
Bots – robots editing automatically. All tasks have to be approved before operating. There are currently three bots with general approval to assist with implementing TfD outcomes:
I'll try and work on the {{cite web}} substitution for these American Factfinder templates in the near future so they can be processed, but if someone has a more efficient way of substituting these please let me know (it might take me a bit since I'm likely going to be busy for a bit). Thanks, Staraction (talk·contribs) 20:46, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
@Voorts: can you clarify you intention/decision with this close? Should transclusions simply be removed? Should they be converted to some new format? Would love to help clear this backlog but not really clear how to resolve these ones... Should they simply be converted to {{cite web}} with |url-status=dead? Any guidance would be appreciated! Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 22:48, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
RajanD100, Corundumconundrum, and Zackmann08: I'm not 100% sure what's desired here. Do you want 2C transclusions converted to OEIS transclusions with a parameter added? Or to just change all the wording wholesale? Snowmanonahoe (talk·contribs·typos) 01:30, 20 September 2026 (UTC)
@Gonnym: can you clarify what the blocker is here? Anything that can be done to move this one forward? Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 02:08, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
I've put a request which was not responded to. Basically, the module should be modified so that {{lang}} has all the features of {{langx}} and the only difference between the two should be the display of the label. Gonnym (talk) 07:02, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
@Gonnym: why can {{langx}} not be used in its current form? What am I missing?
Module swapped over in {{chess diagram}}, just waiting for caches to clear to zero out the transclusion count. Primefac (talk) 21:21, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
You were reverted. Gonnym (talk) 07:37, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
Indeed. Primefac (talk) 12:26, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
Note that a simple redirection is not possible due to category more supporting multiple items. Might be suitable to reduce the maximum as well. if you need 5 links the hatnote format probably isn't for you. Trialpears (talk) 17:58, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
Before anyone tries to merge these, PLEASE do in the same way as has been done at {{Afd notice}}! The names of the parameters should be identical to help the maintainers of scripts like WP:TW and for consistency across XfD. See {{Afd notice/testcases}} for how the new arrangement should work. The {{Tfm notice}} and {{Tfr notice}} should remain as wrappers of {{Tfd notice}} in the same way that {{Merge notice}} is a wrapper for {{Afd notice}}, please see the code of {{Merge notice}} to see how it works. The wording of the header and the icon should change based on the nomination. It is probably a good Idea to use a modified version of {{Article for deletion/switch}}, which could be called {{XfD/switch}} or something: default should be "for discussion" to keep existing behaviour, not "for deletion", but you should simply add support for deletion and the rest of the talk page notice templates should be based on the AfD ones, except for the visible prose text, of course. The same applies to {{Template for merging}} and {{Template for discussion}}: the former should become a wrapper of the latter. Again, see {{Article for deletion/dated/testcases}} for how it should work!! (this one is slightly different, but the point is that the parameter names should be the same. FaviFake (talk) 14:12, 8 August 2026 (UTC)
This is a knee-jerk reaction, but you cannot mandate how a merge is going to take place. Primefac (talk) 14:22, 8 August 2026 (UTC)
"Please" doesn't mandate anything. I'm just suggesting the best way to handle this, especially given that one editor in the TfD specifically !voted for my suggested implementation. Of course you can avoid following these suggestions, but it would make the XfD notice templates needlessly inconsistent amongst themselves and possibly make it a little more difficult to update scripts such as WP:TW in the future. FaviFake (talk) 15:28, 8 August 2026 (UTC)
To convert
Templates for which the consensus is that they ought to be converted to some other format are put here until the conversion is completed.
Gonnym, recognising that I haven't dived too deeply into this template, I'm not entirely sure where to start as far as conversion goes. Where are the translit values you gave at the TFD coming from? If I have (for example) a call like {{Lang-mnc|m={{ManchuSibeUnicode|lang=mnc|ᠠᠯᡳᡥᠠ<br />ᠠᠮᠪᠠᠨ}} |v=aliha amban|a=aliha amban}} what will the replacement look like? Primefac (talk) 12:45, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
I'll take a look at converting transclusions and take a look at the edge cases that are left. --Gonnym (talk) 14:04, 2 January 2026 (UTC)
@HouseBlaster: can you clarify how best to take care of converting these? My understanding is that by performing this type of edit, then GraphBot will then automatically come along and create the necessary files on Commons. Can you confirm if this is correct? --Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 21:47, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
@Zackmann08: That is correct. Make those types of edits, and once GraphBot has been restarted, it will automatically do the conversions. Note that the addition of an appropriate |name= parameter is required so the bot can name the file on Commons. Best, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 22:38, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
I didn't want to clog up the close with this (since it's about implementation, and only my initial thoughts) but I think {{games year list}} integration would work for a lot of the existing uses of this template. Primefac (talk) 16:53, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
Uses are very limited. I do not think its a great idea. WikiCleanerMan (talk) 19:10, 28 December 2025 (UTC)
Based on Beland's close, it looks like there was consensus to turn some merge templates into wrappers but that this never happened. Sdkbtalk 22:01, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
Templates for which the consensus is that all instances should be substituted (e.g. the template should be merged with the article or is a wrapper for a preferred template) are put here until the substitutions are completed. After this is done, the template is deleted from template space.
These templates are to be deleted, but may still be in use on some pages. Transclusions should be removed from pages so that the templates can be deleted. Note that simple references to them from Talk: pages should not be removed.
Templates for which consensus to delete has been reached, and for which orphaning has been completed, can be listed here for an administrator to delete. Remove from this list when an item has been deleted.
