← Last week's report

This week seems to be a foreshadowing of the 2026 US midterms (less than a month to go, can you believe it!?) as American politics boil up.

RankArticleClassViewsImageNotes/about
RJ Mitte4,328,936 Known for playing as Walter White Jr. in Breaking Bad, and also a disability rights activist as someone born with cerebral palsy, Mitte died at his home on October 12. His representative believes that Mitte died by suicide, though this is disputed by his mother as there was no suicide note beforehand. In any case, co-stars of Breaking Bad, as well as its creator Vince Gilligan, have shared their tributes to him, with his on-screen dad Bryan Cranston saying that "he never – ever – allowed that challenge [of cerebral palsy] to be an excuse for anything." A public celebration of life has been scheduled for October 25 at Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Katie Zacharia3,386,963 A political commentator who had just been named as Karoline Leavitt's successor as White House press secretary, but following her first press briefing, someone asked Zacharia about her bar exam, and this dug up that she never passed any of those, thus in spite of graduating law school she was lying in calling herself a lawyer. The outcry was enough to get Zacharia fired after just five days at the job, less than half as long as Anthony Scaramucci lasted as Communications Director.
Jailer 21,177,865 The sequel to 2023's Jailer, bringing back Rajinikanth as a retired jailer, this film released on October 15 to mostly positive reviews and has already become the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2026.
Kimberly Guilfoyle960,080 The American ambassador to Greece from 2025 until her October 13 resignation at Trump's request, which was announced by #2 during her first (and only) press briefing. Guilfoyle had been accused of corruption, having allegedly asked Trump-allied businessman Eric Deters for $100,000 in exchange for political favors.
Deaths in 2026958,100 You've given me much more than words could ever say
And oh, my dear, I'll be right here until my dying day...
Carrie (miniseries)929,310 Not to be confused with the novel, the 1976 film, its 1999 sequel, the other film adaptations from 2002 and 2013, the stage musical, or the Riverdale episode about a production of that musical. This new version, starring Summer H. Howell, dropped all eight episodes on October 7 to mostly positive reviews.
Selma Blair856,270 The former Hollywood actress who had to work less due to multiple sclerosis appeared in the police section of the news, being taken into custody and hospitalized following an LA-NY flight where she allegedly bit a flight attendant and left another with lacerations, while also assaulting the Port Authority officer who was taking her away. Blair could face up to 7 years in prison.
Nidal Hasan721,442 The perpetrator of the 2009 Fort Hood shooting remains on the list due in no small part to Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's plan to livestream his execution. Thankfully, Hegseth's boss Trump shut that plan down on October 15 following widespread bipartisan criticism.
Below (miniseries)693,633 It wouldn't be a Top 25 Report without a Netflix miniseries. This one, whose six episodes came out on October 8 to positive reviews, comes from Canada, starring Josh Hartnett as a fisherman in a Newfoundland town threatened by a mysterious sea creature.
Street Fighter (2026 film)648,710 There was already a Mortal Kombat movie this year, so the other landmark fighting game series gets another shot at the silver screen. Writer-director Kitao Sakurai finally gave franchise protagonist Ryu the central role, given the two misguided previous attempts at a movie were a 1994 campfest focused on Guile and an overall lame 2009 film about Chun-Li, and Andrew Koji plays the Hadouken hero as he's taken out of hiding by friend/rival Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) to contest a martial arts tournament organized by the villainous M. Bison (David Dastmalchian). Reviews were mixed as the endless fighting sequences and faithful characterizations try to prop up a scattershot script full of juvenile humor, but Street Fighter topped the box office, being close to at least matching its $82 million budget with $51 million worldwide.
You Can See Everything577,381 Right below the above at the weekend box office was a documentary of all things, following the Theranos fraudster both before she was sent to prison and mid-sentence. The movie also allowed Amanda Seyfried to play Holmes again after The Dropout to reenact some moments Holmes had with the production crew but did not allow to be filmed.
Elizabeth Holmes571,341
Christa Pike540,180 Following her botched lethal injection, this convicted murderer spent some time in a coma, and after regaining consciousness was sent back to prison. It's still unclear whether another attempt to execute Pike's death row sentence will happen.
VisionQuest528,732 5 years after WandaVision, the Marvel Cinematic Universe decided to show what followed for Vision in a miniseries where Paul Bettany's android is trying to understand his complicated situation that involves dying, reviving, and merging with a replica, mostly through communicating with representations of the MCU's other artificial intelligences, including Vision's villainous creator Ultron. The show is also returning to the fold Vision's son Tommy aka Speed after Agatha All Along made the same with his brother.
GBU-43/B MOAB526.736 According to CNN, the US military has considered using the "Mother of All Bombs", the most powerful non-nuclear weapon available to the US, to target energy and nuclear infrastructure in Iran. Hopefully they don't use it, since its impacts will go far beyond the Middle East, though this is the sort of thing Trump would do, given his presidency so far.
Digger (2026 film)508,824 Tom Cruise and Alejandro González Iñárritu teamed up for a satirical look at climate change and reviewers and audiences alike didn't respond so well, in spite of the emergence of big defenders like Anne Hathaway (whose Verity, that fell off our list, cost as much as Digger earned at the box office while having also nearly tripled that gross). A damning indicator is how Warner Bros. pulled Digger from over 2000 screens in a single week, not caring about the incoming loss of over $100 million.
Karoline Leavitt507,113 #2's predecessor left to have more time with her family, as last year she was photographed taking care of her son while working (as seen on the left), and in May she gave birth to a daughter.
East of Eden (2026 miniseries)502,780 One more week for the Netflix adaptation of a family saga, following Cathy Ames (Florence Pugh) between the end of the 19th century and World War I, covering her upbringing in Connecticut and raising sons in California .
Lizzie Borden494,140 One more week for the supposed axe murderer chronicled on Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story. A fifth season of Monster hasn't been announced, so we don't know if 2027 has a killer to pencil in as a certain entry of this Report.
Animals (2026 film)490,758 Another Netflix film, but this time it was also available in select cinemas. It stars Ben Affleck, who also directs the movie, as a father going to extreme measures dealing with his son's kidnapping. The film was received poorly by critics.
Bigg Boss (Hindi TV series) season 20481,805 Like its movie industries, India has versions of Big Brother for every language of the country. The Hindi one, hosted by Bollywood star Salman Khan, has been airing its 20th season since September 6.
East of Eden (novel)473,953 John Steinbeck wrote this family saga set at Salinas Valley in Central California, that had three big adaptations: a 1955 movie directed by Elia Kazan starring James Dean (although only covers the final fourth of the book), a 1981 miniseries broadcast by ABC starring Jane Seymour, and one up there at #18, created by Kazan's granddaughter Zoe.
Ilhan Omar468,807 The ever-controversial U.S. representative was once again put in the spotlight by an October 12 raid on her home by the Department of Homeland Security, which Omar has denounced as weaponizing the justice system. The raid was reportedly conducted in the hope of finding sufficient evidence to strip Omar of her citizenship and deport her.
Drishyam: The Conclusion463,178 Narrowly remaining on the list for a third straight week, this Hindi-language film starring major actors like Ajay Devgn and Tabu has undeniably seen massive success, becoming the second-highest grossing Indian film of the year behind the similarly-named Dhurandhar: The Revenge (which had a seven-week run in the Top 25 Report).
Shane Gillis455,319 For those who are just joining us, the 52nd season of Saturday Night Live is well underway, with each host and musical guest of the show having their own pageview increases on the day after the episode airs on TV. This week, though, his monologue drew controversy saying that female gymgoers "just dress like whores now".
