You don't need to formally join our project in order to contribute, but feel free to indicate your participation by adding our userbox, advert or top icon to your user page. Members are welcome to join our project chat on the unofficial Wikimedia Discord server; please see WP:Discord for more information.

New users who have contributed to video game related articles can be informed about this project by adding the {{vgproj welcome}} template to their talk pages.

Editing Practices

Make sure you are familiar with the following pages:

The five pillars of Wikipedia—a quick rundown of the five key rules you should understand before editing.
Simplified ruleset—12 rules of thumb to help you avoid problems.
List of policies—a comprehensive list of the 42 official policies.

In addition to the usual policies and guidelines, please make sure you understand the specific guidelines for video game-related articles.

Directory of video game projects and taskforces

The assessment department evaluates the quality and importance of video game related articles.
The essential articles page identifies the most important topics in the scope of this WikiProject.
The reference library is an archive of high-quality sources that may be used to support development history, critical reception, and other sections of articles.
We have task forces within our project that provide centralized information and discussion for topics that have a sufficiently large scope, but would not benefit from having a separate WikiProject with all of the associated bureaucracy.
