A Halopiger a Halobacteriaceae családba tartozó Archaea nem. Az archeák – ősbaktériumok – egysejtű, sejtmag nélküli prokarióta szervezetek. Fajai: Halopiger xanaduensis, és Halopiger aswanensis.
