Page protection

Asking for the semi-protection of Kasana/Kushan (clan) which relates to a modern Indian caste. Fringe POVPUSHing IPs have added everything related to Kushan Empire here. They share nothing in common (beyond a pseudomatching name). I have redirected the page to a relevant one as it mostly contained caste-related nonsense.

Caste-related articles are subject to severe ECR restrictions since last year on enwiki and a lot of the fringe POVPUSHers have migrated from there to simplewiki and are severely introducing there cruft everywhere. Simplewiki likely needs similar measures in place. Gotitbro (talk) 14:02, 1 October 2026 (UTC)

There have been a few discussions about these casts articles, as well as those like Ottoman-Soran War (1832–1834). Proposals for widespread restrictions of this nature have not been successful before. It’s just a case by case situation as of now. As for the linked article, your redirect is far from a stable revision at this point. There hasn’t been a lot of recent activity anyways. I don’t see protection as beneficial right now. Can this article be restored, it was deleted as non-notable even when it had a claim of notability. For WP:NPROF#5, he held a distinguished professor appointment at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, a university classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research spending and doctorate production". The university is a major institution that has high research and high education, and even when it's a R1 university, it still defines the university with very high research. In the future, WP:DRV is a better place for this. That said, I would support overturning the deletion because the article makes a claim of notability. Any comments @CountryANDWestern? Garsh (talk) 18:30, 9 October 2026 (UTC)
Alright thank you! It doesn't make sense why this had to be deleted, even when there was a claim of notability where he held a distinguished professor appointment at a R1 university, a major institution with high research and high education, already meeting WP:NPROF#5. Help with removing false positives from Special:WantedTemplates

Would a bureaucrat be willing to add

//<nowiki>

and

// </nowiki>

by creating new first and last lines on these userscripts:

They contain JavaScript strings with 

{{Template:...}}

Abuse filters

It's unfortunate that edits like those by Special:Contributions/~2026-55143-13 aren't being caught by abuse filters, particularly ones where they replace a page with a redirect. There are some circumstances where a temporary account redirecting an article could be useful, like if it's a duplicate or otherwise useless page with an appropriate target, but I think it should at least be warned or tagged by the filter. canadachick (talk) 19:02, 14 October 2026 (UTC)

There is currently an abuse filter for this in the form of abuse filter 135 but it doesn't seem to have triggered anything lately. This is something we can look at expanding, though only a few admins are active who are proficient with abuse filters at the moment. --Ferien (talk | join TBA!) 19:18, 14 October 2026 (UTC)

Protection request

 Done. In protecting this article I also observed that it was deleted a few months ago, but the issue should have been reverted instead of the article getting deleted. Davey2010, as you might have more experience in dealing with this article than me, you might want to check whether there were better revisions to revert to that I have just restored, although this article has been subject to vandalism for a long time. --Ferien (talk | join TBA!) 21:03, 14 October 2026 (UTC)

Page protection request: Weapons (2025 movie)

Ongoing subtle vandalism from multiple TAs changing the release date – quite possibly the same editor using multiple TAs? nil nz 04:19, 16 October 2026 (UTC)

This was protected by TDKR Chicago 101 but as it indeed was a single IP on multiple TAs I removed the protection and dealt with the IP. I will keep an eye on the article to see if protection does end up becoming necessary later. --Ferien (talk | join TBA!) 16:29, 18 October 2026 (UTC)

Page protection request: Angry Grandpa

There is ongoing low-level disruption on this article. The TA vandal that was disrupting continuously yesterday has now hopped onto a different TA to continue the same thing. We could block the TAs but it might be just as effective to protect the page for a few days. Spiderone (talk) 09:15, 16 October 2026 (UTC)

Mass imports (partly) from enwiki

I saw StoryGuy997!28 (talk · contribs) and ~2026-55702-80 (talk · contribs) as the last active tempaccount among several other accounts creating pages nearly copied from enwiki. In the meantime StoryGuy997!28 was blocked as some block-evasion. But the copyvios and partly unsimplified pages of the old tempaccs remain. Most of them were more than 10000k with a single edit. And if the pages are clearly able to be qded, please review the old tempaccs, I will look for more affected pages. NDG (talk) 11:21, 19 October 2026 (UTC)
