Invitation

An important part of having an active and effective WikiProject is bringing in new participating editors. To this end, a template has been created to be added to a user's talk page in order to make them aware of our WikiProject and invite them to participate. Please, do not use this indiscriminately but only for users that are not currently participants, have not been previously invited, and that you genuinely think will be interested because of their edits or user page.

To use, enter {{subst:WikiProject Curling Invitation|~~~~}} to their user talk page. This will create a message that looks like the following(except with their username at the beginning and your username at the end):

Hello, WikiProject Curling, from your recent edits it appears you may have an interest in curling. If you would like, you are invited to join WikiProject Curling! We are dedicated to improving and expanding curling-related articles on Wikipedia. If you are interested in helping, you can add your name to the list of participants, browse the to-do list, or weigh in on current discussions. We hope you will join us!

Welcome & invitation to an anonymous editor

If you notice an IP editor who has been making constructive edits to curling-related articles, you can use {{WikiProject Curling Welcome-anon}} to welcome them to Wikipedia, encourage them to create an account and continue editing, and invite them to WikiProject Curling all at once!

The full syntax is {{subst:WikiProject Curling Welcome-anon|YourUsername|~~~~|art=ArticleName}}, see the documenation page for details on the parameters.

The assessment is done in a distributed fashion through parameters in the {{WikiProject Curling}} project banner; this causes the articles to be placed in the appropriate sub-categories of Category:Curling articles by quality and Category:Curling articles by importance, which serve as the foundation for an automatically generated worklist.

Hello please comment in on the current discussion about the Curling notability guidelines here Wikipedia talk:Notability (sports)#Curling guidelines way too lenient. The discussion is about how to treat non canadian curlers. While the above guidelines work for countries where curling is popular (i.e. Canada) they are likely too lenient for other countries. Please add your input. Thanks --MATThematical (talk) 19:42, 14 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Collaboration

Some members have expressed interest in doing a monthly collaboration, in which a low-quality article would be massively improved, with the hope of eventually getting the article to Good Article status. All low-quality articles about or closely related to curling may be nominees for the collaboration. See WP:CURLING/AID for a list of articles to be improved.

Comments:

  • In spite of the article's obvious importance, it is poorly written and very short. It also has few citations. Additionally, the majority of the article is simply a list of famous skips; very little is about what a skip does. Peacock28 (talk) 00:17, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Also, if we can find the time to add pages for the lead, second, and third (mate), that would be awesome! I also agree with Peacock28, it can/could be improved.......and I will try and see if I have time to work on that article. Jake Rowsell (talk) 17:56, 22 March 2013 (AST)
