Welcome to WikiProject England! Some Wikipedians have formed a Project to improve and organise articles which relate to England. We are dedicated to improving these articles and if you would like to help, please add your name to the participants!

Goals

• Improve the coverage of English parishes to more than just one line by adding photos and infoboxes where appropriate
• To better organise and link together England related articles throughout Wikipedia (festivals, customs etc.) so that they can be more easily explored by interested laymen
• Increase the detail of articles about English including illustrations and photos where appropriate
• Set a common style for English related articles
• Improve the article England to featured status.
• Ensure that sub articles like Education in England and Geography of England are to a high standard, whilst not using too much from the similar articles at History of the United Kingdom.
• English city and town articles such as London to a high standard.
• Fulfill requests for photos in Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in England

Announcements and open tasks

A list of articles needing cleanup associated with this project is available. See also the tool's wiki page and the index of WikiProjects.

• <feel free to add tasks here>
• List of years in England has an issue at the year 1708, it should be a red link because there is no article for 1708 in England, instead it links to the calendar year 1708, unrelated to England. The link leads to a redirect page, 1708 in England, which redirects to 1708. If someone could please delete the redirect to make 1708 on the list appear as a red link, that would be very appreciated.
• English whisky requires WP:COPYEDIT, expansion and general fixes to meet B rating and then GA. There is a peer review open here, I appreciate any assistance
• Caer Gwinntguic - Nominated this for deletion because no such place with this name existed and no reputable historical source references it beyond one unreliable website. --Trojan Dreadnought (talk) 18:49, 10 October 2025 (UTC)
• Wymington - Trying to build out article. Needs work on late 19th and early 20th century history, geography, and demography. Built up from next to nothing, would like to get this to B or GA standard one day. Unfortunately I'm running into a bit of a wall with sourcing...turns out, there might just not be that much terribly interesting that's happened in a small village in north Bedfordshire in the last 200 years! nf utvol (talk) 03:04, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
• Fives working on article, hopefully to bring up to Good status. Started work, already doubled the article, any help is welcome. (Needs more info on history, rules, and playing abroad). Frzzl (talk) 17:04, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
• Sherborne_School: One of the classic British public schools. Much of the article is a copyvio from an old brochure. (See Talk:Sherborne_School#Copyvio) There are some conflict of interest problems. (See Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest/Noticeboard#User:SherborneArchives_reported). And, amusingly, there seems to be a slow-motion edit war between the school management, which wants to join the 21st century, and the old boys' association (their website: ), which wants to focus on the Good Old Days (of cold showers and hazing, perhaps). This needs some good edits by an interested but neutral party. --John Nagle (talk) 17:48, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
• Anglophobia: needs input on whether what I have added ([]) should remain in this article, or needs to be changed in some way. I'd also appreciate it if someone could add material about Anglophobia outside the United Kingdom.
• The Robert Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell article was promoted to Featured article. Read the argumentation in the comments. Wim van Dorst (Talk) 20:13, 21 April 2007 (UTC).
• United Kingdom - Split off parts in sub articles.
• Downing Street memo - need some tidying up, fleshing out of lead and trim of ext links but has 60 references
• Victorian architecture - article extremely biased towards architecture in the USA. See Talk:Victorian architecture for details. --Kudpung (talk) 12:15, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
• Joan Pujol Garcia - The Spanish WWII double-agent better known as GARBO. Awarded both an MBE from George VI and the Iron Cross by Hitler. Convinced Germans that Normandy was a diversion. Submitted for Good Article status, trying to get featured in time for D-Day anniversary. K8 fan (talk) 00:44, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

Re-rated to B Class. Thanks! How can we get it to GA class in the opinion of those more knowledgeable about the subject's importance to the history of England? K8 fan (talk) 02:17, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

• Scunthorpe could be nominated for GA if the long-tagged refs problems were sorted.--Robert EA Harvey (talk) 07:48, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
• House of Commons of England needs to be expanded. I was surprised that it is such a short article. Much more history needs to be added, and things like when did the election of its members started, what were the requirements to be a voter, and how these changed through time. Thinker78 (talk) 07:35, 5 December 2017 (UTC)
