The spotlight department of WikiProject Film is an organized display of positive contributions and accomplishments by the project as a whole. The major items displayed are a listing of featured and good articles, and a list of the recipients of our barnstar; further ideas are always welcome, of course!

These are Wikipedians who have been noticed by WikiProject Films for their great contributions to Wikipedia's coverage of films and have been awarded the Film Award.

The following is a listing of articles (and other types of content) within the scope of the project that have been noted for their quality. Project members are encouraged to peruse these at their leisure, as they serve as excellent examples of different writing and organizational styles that one may wish to emulate.

Please note that the project does not necessarily claim any authorship or credit for creating these. While many were written by members – sometimes with extensive input from the project as a whole – others were created by uninvolved editors, or predate the existence of the project itself, and are listed here merely because they fall within our scope.

Featured articles are considered to be the best articles in Wikipedia. Articles are reviewed at the featured article candidates page for accuracy, neutrality, completeness, and style according to the featured article criteria.

The following articles have in the past reached featured article status, but were demoted because they do not meet the current featured article criteria. It is hoped that these articles can be brought back up to their prior status with some effort and collaboration.

Featured lists are considered to be the best lists in Wikipedia. Lists are reviewed at the featured list candidates page for usefulness, completeness, accuracy, neutrality, style and prose according to the featured list criteria.

The following lists have in the past reached featured list status, but were demoted because they do not meet the current featured list criteria. It is hoped that these lists can be brought back up to their prior status with some effort and collaboration.

Featured pictures are images that the Wikipedia community finds beautiful, stunning, impressive, and/or informative. Featured pictures must meet a set of criteria, and are nominated and discussed at the featured picture candidates page.

Featured portals are portals that are regarded as being particularly useful, attractive, and well-maintained. Featured portals must meet a set of criteria, and are nominated and discussed at the featured portal candidates page.

A Featured topic is a collection of inter-related articles that are of good quality or higher. Featured topics must meet a set of criteria, and are nominated and discussed at the featured topic candidates page.

A-Class articles, while not as rigorously reviewed as featured articles, are nevertheless considered to provide a well-written and complete treatment of the topic. The project's A-Class review department is now closed. No further considerations for A-Class status are being taken at this time.

Good articles are articles which are considered to be of good quality but which are not yet, or are unlikely to reach, featured article quality. Good articles should meet the good article criteria and have passed through the good article nomination process successfully.

The following articles have in the past reached good article status, but were delisted because they do not meet the current good article criteria. It is hoped that these articles can be brought back up to their prior status with some effort and collaboration.

A good topic is a collection of inter-related articles that are of good quality or higher. Good topics must meet a set of criteria, are nominated and discussed at the featured topic candidates page.

The following film-related articles have appeared in the "Did you know..." section of the main page, which gives publicity to newly created or expanded Wikipedia articles.
