Features

Usage

Visit Wikipedia:Interceptor/run after installation to begin using the tool. You can also get to that page by clicking the Interceptor link in the same menu where you find your Wikipedia preferences.

Basics

Interceptor shows you edits which are likely to be bad, and also edits by users on your monitored user list. Most edits you see should not be reverted.

  1. Likely vandalism:
    • MediaWiki flags some edits as "likely vandalism", and these edits are shown to you.
  2. Likely bad edits:
    • ORES score is MediaWiki's best guess as to whether an edit is "good" (low) or "bad" (high).
    • By default, Interceptor shows you edits with an ORES score of 0.15 or higher.
    • You can change that number in the menu.
    • ORES score is only a guess. Remember: most edits you see should not be reverted.
  3. Monitored user list:
    • When you revert or warn an editor, they're added to your list.
    • When two or more other rollbackers rollback an editor, they're added to your list.
    • When you start Interceptor, editors you rolled back within the last hour are added to your list.
    • When an editor has tripped specific edit filters, they're temporarily added to your list.
    • All new edits by these users are always shown to you.
    • Your list resets when you exit Interceptor.

If an edit meets either of those two criteria, it will show up in your feed. The tool does not filter out experienced editors like extended confirmed users or administrators. Take care when reverting.

  • on mobile, swipe right or swipe left
  • on computer, press the ← or → keys

Toolbar

  • Pushing this button when the editor is already at a level 4 warning will also automatically report the editor to AIV
  • On desktop, click the "auto level" button for a given warning type to immediately rollback and issue the appropriate (escalating) warning. You can also choose a manual warning level.
  • On mobile, you have to tap the name of the warning first to unlock it.
  • Other (AGF) and Other both bring up a text box to enter a reason for the rollback. After the reason is submitted, it opens the user's talk page so you can add a warning using Twinkle. You can turn that off in settings.
  • Report to AIV reports the user to AIV after you enter a reason for the report.
