Imide

Diacetamide is the simplest acyclic imide.
Succinimide is an important cyclic imide.

Imide is a functional group in organic chemistry. It is a nitrogen atom connected to two acyl groups. The name "imide" can mean all compounds that have this group, or just cyclic compounds. Oxidation of lactams can be used to make cyclic imides.
